Hull was announced the winner of UK City of Culture 2017 back in 2013. The award is given every four years to a city that demonstrates the belief in the transformational power of culture.
The arts and cultural programme for the year celebrates the unique character of the city, its people, history and geography. The programme runs from 1 Jan to 31 Dec 2017 and is split into four seasons, each with something distinctive and intriguing to say, and each created to challenge and thrill.
The organisers are working with the artists of Hull to celebrate the culture of the city and its place in the wider cultural offer of the North, and make Hull a cultural destination for must-see events. Please take a look at their site at what they have planned. www.hull2017.co.uk
Although we are now in 2019 and Coventry will take over the title come 2021, Hull are continuing to celebrate the culture of the city.
