Burstwick Country Golf
www.burstwickcountrygolf.co.uk
The golf course is an 18 Hole Par 70 plan with a very “Inland Links” feel, set in and around 2 fields belonging to the Golf Club. There are a whopping 73 bunkers and 6 water hazards on the course to challenge players on every hole offering a risk-reward opportunity on each shot. This is what golf is all about - when you're playing well you are rewarded with birdie and par chances but if you are off target then the hazards will make sure you go home with sand in your clothes and water in your shoes! Opened in Late 2011 was it’s new facilities & Cafe Nineteen, the new bar and lounge open to the public not just members, definately worth a visit.

Days out
St. Patricks Church
The church (dating back to the 14th century and long known as the Queen of Holderness because of its size and splendor) remains the most distinguishing feature of this important Holderness community and dominates the surrounding countryside. Although much of the history Patrington was, like any other East riding community, dominated by the needs of farming, the importance of the sea in it’s growth should not be underestimated. A creek called Patrington Haven lay about a mile from this busy Holderness community and the inhabitants used to boast of the former excellence of their harbour.

Cattle and sheep roam freely grazing on the pastures throughout the summer months. The wellbeing of the pastures is overseen by the Pasture Masters, a group of men elected from the Freemen of Beverley each March. Popular throughout the year and great sledging in winter!

Jorvik Viking Centre
www.jorvik-viking-centre.co.uk
At JORVIK Viking Centre you are standing on the site of one of the most famous and astounding discoveries of modern archaeology. Between the years 1976-81 archaeologists from York Archaeological Trust revealed the houses, workshops and backyards of the Viking-Age city of Jorvik as it stood 1,000 years ago. These incredible findings enabled them to build the JORVIK Viking Centre on the very site where the excavations had taken place, creating a groundbreaking visitor experience that enabled you to experience life in Viking-Age York.
Royal Armouries
Royal Armouries is the United Kingdom’s National Museum of Arms and Armour, including artillery. As a museum we have a duty of care for these objects, to keep them, study them and increase our knowledge of them, so that this can be passed to future generations along with the objects themselves.
North Yorkshire Moors Railway
With our magnificent steam engines, beautiful rural stations and smartly uniformed staff, a visit to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is like taking a step back in time.
From the smoke and steam pouring from the engines to the cosy wood- panelled carriages and friendly conductor service, the railway is both lovingly preserved and charmingly authentic
It’s also the perfect starting point for a day out, whether you’re travelling between the rugged Yorkshire villages, hiking on the wind swept moors or spending a day by the seaside in Whitby.
